About the Opportunity

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, managing diverse projects and leading professional teams. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical building services, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction


This role is ideal for a professional looking to apply advanced technical knowledge across a variety of systems, including HVAC, medical gases, smoke hazard management, and hydronic heating. You will be instrumental in mentoring junior staff and driving the technical direction of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Documentation: Lead the preparation of system philosophies, undertake complex calculations (plant selection, duct sizing), and prepare detailed specifications and schedules.
  • Condition Reporting: Undertake site surveys of existing installations to provide comprehensive condition and compliance reporting.
  • Collaboration: Participate in briefing and design meetings with clients, architects, and sub-consultants to ensure seamless service coordination.
  • Contract Administration: Review shop drawings, undertake site inspections, witness testing and balancing, and manage contract variations.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform independent peer reviews of designs and documentation across all services to ensure statutory and aesthetic compliance.
  • Project Leadership: Manage resources, prioritise tasks for the team, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget

About You

You will have worked in a similar role previously and will have the following:

  • 5-10 years of experience in mechanical building services engineering within a commercial environment
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    Licensed in Tasmania as a Building Services Provider (Services Engineer Unrestricted), or the ability to obtain
  • Conversant in Camel, Beaver, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIMS modelling
  • Concise written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage professional client relationships
